This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Indonesia. Two key elements of this relationship lie in energy security and climate diplomacy, with Indonesia leading the energy sector in the Asia-Pacific region. As one of the largest coal exporters in the world, Indonesia has a significant mining footprint for metals critical to energy transition aspirations. The nation has a priority for continued economic growth and development, with a need for international capital flows. As a result, it sits at the center of the global discussion on the pace and scale of energy transitions.
At this event, we hosted a discussion with Tutuka Ariadji, director general for oil and gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Along with fellow experts, this event explored the challenges and opportunities associated with energy transitions in Indonesia.
This event was sponsored by the Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies. It was free and open to the public.
