Houston’s infrastructure poses a number of challenges to children’s safety. How can we establish a safe and active transportation culture for children in the greater Houston area?
At this event, Dr. Zoabe Hafeez, a Baker nonresident fellow and associate professor of pediatric hospital medicine at UTHealth Houston, discussed hotspots for child pedestrian and bicyclist injuries in Houston. During this presentation, an analysis was unveiled, featuring a top three list to spotlight the most high-risk transportation neighborhoods in the city. Following Hafeez’s presentation, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia delivered a keynote address on the crucial importance of safe transportation for our children. Panelists delved into three critical areas: the inherent health benefits of safe and active transportation, urgent infrastructure needs in Houston, and effective policy solutions.
This event was eligible for 3.0 CM from the American Planning Association.
This event was sponsored by the Baker Institute Center for Health and Biosciences.
