What challenges will Mexico face in the coming year? And how will those challenges affect companies and investors doing business in the country?
The fourth annual Mexico Country Outlook, presented by the Baker Institute on Dec. 8, 2022, explored critical issues facing Mexico and their impact on relations between the U.S. and Mexico. Experts from across industry, government and academia examined Mexico’s politics, economy, regulatory environment, and public safety and security landscape.
The Mexico Country Outlook is an annual conference and report by the Center for the U.S. and Mexico at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy. This year’s conference program featured keynote remarks by the Honorable Maria-Elena Giner, commissioner of the U.S. section of the International Boundary and Water Commission, and Macario Schettino, an economist, author and researcher at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. In addition, two expert panel discussions explored trade and the economy and democracy, security, immigration and the border.
