As Mexico transitions to a new administration under Claudia Sheinbaum in 2025, the country faces significant policy challenges that will impact its internal stability and its relationship with the U.S. — a relation that will be heavily shaped by the recent election of Donald J. Trump.
On Dec. 5, 2024, the Center for the U.S. and Mexico at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy presented the sixth annual Mexico Country Outlook, an annual conference and report from the Center for the U.S. and Mexico. The conference explored critical issues facing Mexico and their impact on relations between the U.S. and Mexico.
This year’s conference program featured keynote remarks from Luis de la Calle, director general and founding partner of De la Calle Madrazo Mancera and former undersecretary of International Business Negotiations at the Ministry of Economy in Mexico, as well as, Mauricio Vila Dosal, senator in Mexico and former governor of the state of Yucatán. Additionally, CEOs and experts from across industry, government, and academia examined Mexico’s politics, economy, business, regulatory environment, public safety, and security landscape.
Conference attendees received early access to the Mexico Country Outlook 2025 report.
Past reports and more information about the annual conference is available at Mexico Country Outlook.
