With the closely watched U.S. Senate race for Texas between incumbent Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic challenger Rep. Colin Allred as well as the presidential election, Texas is potentially at a major political crossroads that requires expert analysis and discussion.
We hosted a panel discussion with top Texas political journalists who analyzed the key factors shaping the 2024 Texas U.S. Senate and presidential elections. The event provided a comprehensive review of Texas’ current political landscape, polling data, and strategies employed by the Cruz and Allred campaigns for the U.S. Senate race. Additionally, the panel assessed the prospects of Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the first Democratic presidential candidate to win Texas since Jimmy Carter in 1976 amid Texas’ changing demographics and evolving political dynamics.
The event also spotlighted other crucial Texas races, including key congressional and state legislative contests that could shape the political balance of power in the state. With Nov. 5 looming, this event offered an engaging and timely discussion for political enthusiasts, students, and anyone interested in the future of Texas politics.
It was free and open to the public.
