Biography
Kevin Shih is a nonresident scholar for the Center for the United States and Mexico and an associate professor in the Department of Economics at UC Riverside. A labor economist, he specializes in the economics of immigration. His research has examined the impact of international students on U.S. higher education, the labor market effects of skilled immigrants through the H-1B visa program, and the impacts of DACA on the educational attainment of undocumented youth. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, AEJ: Economic Policy, and the Journal of Labor.
Shih is also a research fellow at the IZA Institute for Labor Economics, an external affiliate of the UC Davis Global Migration Center, and a Special Sworn Status researcher for the U.S. Census Bureau. He received his Ph.D. in economics from UC Davis and his B.A. in economics and literature from Claremont McKenna College.
