The Medicine, Research and Society Policy Issues Series is a joint project between the Baker Institute Center for Health and Biosciences and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The event series is dedicated to educating the public on the important intersection of science, medicine and policy at the state and national levels. The mission of the program is to expose scientists and future scientists to the idea that their responsibilities expand outside of the laboratory in addition to highlighting major issues impacting biomedical research. It also provides an opportunity for the general public to hear eloquent scientists and engineers discuss their experiences and interests, hopefully promoting science and engineering as a public good and worthy of federal, state and local funding.
